JAMIE FARR
Biography

Jamie is best known for his role in the television series M*A*S*H as Klinger, and was the only cast member to actually serve in Korea. The weekly show had an amazing audience of 32 million regular viewers, running for 11 years. The final episode of M*A*S*H is still the highest rated show in television history.  The United States had a population of 200,000  million people when it aired, and 125,000 million people watched the final episode. It was chosen by TV Guide as the best television series of all time.

He has appeared in numerous feature films, including a biblical classic film called “The Greatest Story Ever Told” and the “Cannonball Run” films with Burt Reynolds. He also starred in the film that brought Rock and Roll to America with “Blackboard Jungle”, which featured the popular song, “Rock Around the Clock”. A movie of the same name, “Rock Around the Clock”, was later released to capitalize on the popularity. Over the years, Jamie has appeared with Bob Hope, Red Skeleton, Danny Kaye, Milton Berle, Lucille Ball, Andy Griffith, and Dick Van Dyke.

His live theater credits include “A Christmas Carol”, “The Odd Couple”, “Oliver”, "Say Goodnight Gracie”, “Guys and Dolls”, “Oklahoma”, “My Fair Lady”, among many others.

Jamie has appeared in several game shows throughout the years. They include “The Gong Show”, “Hollywood Squares”, “$250,000 Pyramid and $100,000 Pyramid”, “Rhyme nor Reason”, “Scrabble”, “Tattletales”, “Let’s Make a Deal”, “Wordplay”, “Password Plus”, “Dream House”, "Pantomine Quiz”, “Win Lose or Draw”, “Trivia Trap”,

Farr has received an Emmy Nomination and a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He has been named Entertainment Father of the Year, and received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor Award. Jamie has two honorary doctorates from the University of Toledo and Owens Medical College of Ohio. He was also the honorary Chairman of the American Red Cross, and a member of the Motion Picture Academy. He has also hosted the LPGA Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic presented by Kroger for 23 years, which has contributed over 5 million dollars to children and abused women's charities of Northwest Ohio.   Also Jamie received the LPGA Commissioner's Award in the year 2000, and only five people in the history of the LPGA have received this prestigious award; among them Karsten Solheim the inventor of Ping Golf Clubs. Also, Jamie has a park named after him in his hometown of Toledo, Ohio.
